CHRISTY MOORE is coming back to Galway to play two shows, where he will be joined by a stellar line-up featuring Mairtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden, Seamie O’Dowd, and Jimmy Higgins.

HIS FIRST time in Galway was in 1962 as a teen folk singing ‘wannabe’. A decade later he was back as part of Irish trad’s first ‘supergroup’. Ten years later he was a controversial supporter of the Hunger Strikers. And tomorrow he headlines the Galway Arts Festival Big Top.

The Galway Arts Festival returns from Monday July 16 to Sunday 29 and will be officially launched in Dublin this evening and in Galway tomorrow. Below is all that is on during the two weeks and there is plenty to look forward to.

Galway Arts Festival and the Róisín Dubh have announced that Christy Moore will perform a rare stand-up gig at the Festival Big Top on Friday July 20. Joining Christy on the night will be high energy, vivacious trad group 4 Men and A Dog. The show is Moore’s only gig in Galway city in 2012 and promises to be a massive music highlight at this year’s festival.

Legendary Irish musician Sharon Shannon is renowned for embracing all musical genres and collaborating with many different artists including U2, Sinead O Connor, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Nigel Kennedy, and Christy Moore. She is coming back to Castlebar to the Royal Theatre, on December 27 for a special post-Christmas show.
